The Latin script
Kazakh alphabet based on Latin script, 1928-1942

Since 1928 (after Baku conference), Turkic world started transition from the old Arabic alphabet to the Latin alphabet. During the campaign actions of the USSR in 1920-1930s, special Latin alphabet for all Turkic peoples and nationalities was developed, and the Republic of Turkey moved to the Latin script. But soon in the 1940s all Turkic peoples of the USSR moved to the Cyrillic alphabet. (The project of Kazakh Latin alphabet was prepared by A. Baydildauly, T. Shonanuly, I.Kabyluly, I.Zhansugiruly, Sh.Tokzhigituly): а /a/, в /б/, c /ш/, ς /ж/, d /д/, e /e/, g /г/, q /ғ/, һ /х/, i /і/, k /к/, q /қ/, l /л/, m /м/, n /н/, ŋ /ң/, o /o/, ө /ө/, j /й/, p /п/, r /р/, s /с/, t /т/, u /ұ/, u /у/, у /и/, z /з/, ь /ы/.
